Toby Conway has worked on some of the biggest productions in the world alongside the some of the worlds top onset shooting crews.
He is a well established Grip with over 20 years working in the New Zealand film industry. Toby is able to facilitate a wide range of technical and managerial roles for the full spectrum of production types and scales. He is able to out source all types of grip equipment and crew available in the country. This allows him to tailor a grip package to the production.
Toby is one of New Zealand’s leading and an most experienced telescopic crane operators (Technocrane, Service-vision Scorpio). He has a clear and realised understanding of using the equipment to suit and execute captivating scenes and mesmerising shots. Finding the balance between technical and creative in the onset, team driven workplace.
In recent years Toby has branched out to ‘On set best boy’, ‘2nd and 3rd camera dolly/camera grip’ on larger productions and ‘Key grip’ for local productions and line produced Tvc’s.
In all roles Toby is adaptable to different shooting environments and styles.
Toby’s skills and expertise include but are not limited to, using technical, on set equipment, personnel and gear management, Production consultation, textiles and access/rigging. These are all brought together to facilitate the production and the grip department in a solutions based manner.
