About Filmcrews
Looking for experienced film and television crew in Auckland or New Zealand?
Film Crew Services – better known as Filmcrews – is an Auckland-based film and television crew booking and diary management service, representing experienced freelance screen technicians throughout Auckland and across New Zealand.
Established in 1997, Filmcrews has been connecting production companies with professional freelance film and television crew for nearly 30 years. We work with New Zealand and international producers, production managers, line producers and production companies looking for experienced local crew for television commercials (TVCs), feature films, television drama and series, streaming productions, documentaries, music videos and other screen productions.
Whether you are looking for one crew member for a single shoot day or checking availability across several departments for a larger production, Filmcrews gives you one easy point of contact.
Finding the right crew
Filmcrews represents freelance technicians across a wide range of film and television departments, including Production, Assistant Directors, Locations, Camera, Grips, Lighting, Art Department, Wardrobe, Makeup, Sound, Unit, Safety, Catering, Runners and Drivers, along with selected equipment suppliers.
Our role is simple: we manage our crew members’ diaries and availability and make it easier for productions to find and book experienced freelance crew.
Tell us the role or roles you need and your proposed dates, and we can check availability across our crew list and let you know who may be available for your production. Because we manage our crew members’ working diaries, we often know not only who is free, but who may be finishing another production, holding dates or potentially becoming available.
And importantly, Filmcrews is not a recruitment agency and we don’t take commission from productions or crew bookings. We provide a central diary management and crew booking service designed specifically for the freelance film and television industry.
Auckland crew – and crew throughout New Zealand
Filmcrews is based in Auckland, New Zealand, the country’s largest screen production centre, but our reach extends well beyond Auckland.
Our crew work across New Zealand on local and international productions, from television commercials and smaller shoots through to long-form television drama, major feature films and international screen productions.
If you’re bringing a production to New Zealand and don’t know the local crew market, contact Filmcrews first. We know our crew, their roles and their availability, and if we can’t help with something, we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction.
One call. Multiple departments.
One of the biggest advantages of using Filmcrews is that you don’t have to contact dozens of individual freelancers simply to find out who is available.

We can check availability across multiple roles and departments, helping production teams put together their crew efficiently while they concentrate on everything else involved in getting a production underway.
After nearly three decades working alongside New Zealand’s screen industry, we understand that dates change, shoots move, weather days happen and crew requirements can change at very short notice. Juggling diaries is what we do.
Emerging Crew
Filmcrews is also proud to support the next generation of New Zealand film and television technicians through our Emerging Crew listings.
Emerging Crew are not represented under our traditional diary management service. Instead, Filmcrews provides an online crew database and exposure platform where emerging technicians can have their profiles, experience, skills and CVs listed for easy reference by producers, production managers, coordinators and Heads of Department looking for new crew.
It’s an easy way for productions to discover up-and-coming people entering the New Zealand screen industry, and for emerging crew to become more visible to the people who may give them their next opportunity.
