Declan O’Connell
I am a graduate from the New Zealand Broadcasting School studying for a Bachelor of Broadcasting and Communications (TV and Screen). I had so much fun working on various short films, documentaries, and music videos at
NZBS, and have learnt so much from being a part of a team as a collaborative, creative worker. For seven months in 2024, I also worked full-time as the video editor at Tahu News, working on Adobe Premiere Pro to edit short news stories that are posted to their social media pages. At Tahu News I learnt how to work well as a team effort, how to communicate with others effectively, and to openly share ideas and learn from others.
I have just moved up to Auckland recently and am excited to keep working as an editor, but to also expand my skills outside of post-production by networking through both FilmCrews and the many friends I made at NZBS. TV and Film is my biggest passion and I would love to be a part of this industry while learning and growing my skill set, whether that be in the edit booth or on location as part of a team.
My strongest skills are editing on Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer, and camera operating. I am also confident to work as any adjacent on-set assistant/trainee that you might need listed below.
